Kitchen Supervisor/ Cook
Location: Downtown Los Angeles
Hours: Full-Time, 10:00 am – 6:30 pm, Flexible Schedule
Salary: $12.00 – $15.00 per hour
Summary of Job Duties:
Coordinate, plan and prepare balanced, nutritious meals for shelter guests. Ensures enough food has been ordered and stocked. Cleans kitchen, storeroom, refrigerators, and all other equipment. Keeps an inventory of all food and supplies in stock. Arranges for or picks up donations. Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food. Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables. Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist. Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers. Monitor food quality while preparing food. Set-up and break down work station. Serve food in proper portions onto proper receptacles. Wash and disinfect kitchen area, tables, tools, knives, and equipment. Check and ensure the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food. Maintains a clean and sanitary work area.
Deep cleans refrigerators, counter tops and cupboards and stores chemicals properly, follow MSDS rules; labels product appropriately, uses chemicals according to directions, uses PPE as necessary. Uses standardized and non-standardized recipes and ingredients to prepare, create, and process foods.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
At least six months of related training after high school.
Must have current health clearance.
One to three years of related experience.
